TARGET AUDIENCE

My target audience and demographic I have chosen to appeal to is 18 -28 year olds both male and female, because I feel that there are many ways of advertising to appeal to the needs of this target audience. The choice of costumes have chosen to use for my characters will help them relate to much younger audience, because the characters in the trailer sill be wearing trainers and hoodies. Trainers and hoodies have become the stereotypical clothing of young adults, which I hope will help to appeal to my target audience.

The reason why my trailer may appeal more to the male gender is because of the content at the first part of my trailer there will be a young male playing an Xbox, even though my film is targeted at both genders I do feel that it relate more to young males because when it comes to horror films they will see it as a coming of age because they where not allowed to see them before.

The reason why my film is aimed at the ages between 18-28 is because the majority of these audiences are active viewers so they will be able to understand that this is just a movie and also their will be more gory and horrific scenes in it, the reason why I targeted an active audience is because they re the age group who have the most influence and are active on social media, they will be able to speak on their views and raise awareness of the movie.

My movie will be mainstream and aimed at all ethnicities, the sexuality of the viewer does not matter in this case, this film is aimed at the younger audience because they have spare cash and also time on their hands to go and view the film, and also aimed at people who are interested in extra-terrestrial activities.

Pixar’s 22 rules of storytelling

  • You admire a character for trying more than their success.

I think that this will be on of the rules that I will stick by while writing my script to create my trailer. I feel this will help me to create my storyline to add more content to the trailer without revealing the end result. my trailer will consist of showing how my character deals with life and his relationships with the people closest to him and around him.

  • What is your character good at, comfortable with? Throw the polar opposite at them. Challenge them. How do they deal?

I feel that this is another rule that I will be using when creating my storyline for my trailer. I will make sure to emphasise the kindness of my main character that I have another character that id the complete opposite of them and I will also be showing what my character is good at, the certain situations that they are comfortable with.

  • Come up with your ending before you figure out your middle. Seriously. Endings are hard, get yours working up front.

This is the last rule I feel that I need to stick by. I have already created the ending of my film to make it easier to write the script. this has made it easy for me to come up with the rest of my film.

MEDIA TECHNIQUES-SOUND

SOUND

  • diegetic and non-diegetic sound;synchronous/asynchronous sound motif, sound bridge,dialogue,voiceover,mode of address,sound mixing,sound prospective.
    • soundtrack:score,incidental music,themes and strings, ambient sound.

MEDIA TECHNIQUES-EDITING

EDITING

  • Includes transitions of image and sound-continuity and non-continuity systems.
  • cutting:shot/reverse shot, eyeliner match, action match, jump cut, crosscutting, parallel editing, cutaway; insert.
  • other transitions, dissolve,fade-in,fade-out,wipe,superimposition,long take, short take, slow motion, ellipsis and expansion of time, post-production,visual affects.
  • CONTINUITY EDITING-
  • is the dominant editing technique found in narrative feature films, television shows and web content. it is to unify a series of disconnected shots into  scene that plays out in a logical fashion. this editing is smooth, continuos and coherent and appears invisible.
  • part of what makes them so unique is that editing allows the viewer to see a wide shot cut to a close up-something our eyes don’t see in real life. this could make a story hard to follow, but continuity editing combined with solid narration allows the viewer to easily get immersed in the story.
  • z112
  • NON-CONTINUITY/DISCONTINUITY EDITING-
  • in continuity editing the effect is that the choices made are supposed to be invisible to be visible. these effects call attention themselves and violate viewers expectations of continuity.
  • z100
  • THE 180 DEGREE RULE
  • the first rule that any filmmakers needs to learn before they picks up his camera is the 180 degree rule.adherence to this rule is necessary to maintain continuity in your scene.
  • what you do is create imaginary line across your set that you will not cross with the camera. this way if the actor is on the left side of the frame and stress on the right side in the master shot, they will stay in those establishing positions throughout the scene as the medium shots and close ups are editing together.
  • if the camera has lost the line and the actress appeared from left and the actor from right, then this would disorientate because the established spatial continuity has been violated. once the spacial distance and positions has been established.you should not violate
